Regarding the configuration diagram of the combustible gas system in Appendix C of GB/T50493, page 24, I have a question: there are three controllers shown in this diagram – how can they be distinguished from each other? In our facility, the fire protection systems are managed by the electrical department, while our instrumentation team is responsible for setting up the combustible gas detection and alarm systems. Is the purpose of these systems merely to meet process requirements? What is the difference between the sensors connected to the specialized fire protection controllers shown in the diagram and those in the GDS system cabinets? Are the specialized fire protection controllers designed with fire protection considerations in mind? In our previous designs, no distinction was made between them; for example, in the combustible gas detection and alarm systems for gas boiler rooms, sensors were installed according to the specifications, and a controller was placed in the control room to enable operation and alarm functions, as well as to control fans. Signals could also be sent to the fire control room upon request. However, we never paid close attention to distinguishing whether these systems were for process use or for fire protection purposes. Now that I see this diagram, I’m a bit confused. (I can’t upload photos of the drawings)

Can a GDS system be used as a dedicated combustible gas alarm controller just because it has fire safety certification? After all, this is the only type of system we usually develop, and sometimes projects consider what we create to be part of the fire safety infrastructure
It mainly depends on which controller it is connected to. If it is directly integrated into the fire alarm system for fire suppression purposes, then its detectors and controllers need to have fire-related certifications; I think this task can be assigned to the electrical engineering team. If interlocking action through a fire alarm controller is not required, it should be treated as a regular instrument; however, the fault signals from the controller and the secondary alarm signals from the detectors need to be transmitted to the control room. This is usually achieved by installing a display and operation station in the control room so that the personnel on duty can detect alarms promptly
How to determine which one goes to the fire controller? Do all combustible gas detectors send signals there?
Carefully understand the last three lines of clause 3.0.3. Yes, the secondary alarm signal for combustible gases and the fault signals from the GDS alarm control unit are sent to the fire control room.
