What is the purpose of the interlock bypass switch on the auxiliary control panel? Is it as literal as it sounds? It won’t chain anymore
An interlock bypass, as the name suggests, allows the interlock system to be disabled by switching to bypass mode when there is a fault with the interlock instruments; this way, the interlock does not function temporarily, until the instruments are repaired and the system can be put back into use.
Bypassing means isolating the conditional chain, so it does not cause the result to be executed.
Temporarily disabling interlocks facilitates the online handling of instrument failures.
We commonly refer to it as a hard bypass; a soft bypass can also be implemented on the screen
