Regarding thermocouple wiring issues

Dear experts, I have a question: if the compensation wire of the thermocouple becomes loose within the thermocouple terminal box, will the DCS temperature reading be too high or too low?
The thermocouple signal is in mV units. If the wiring is only loose but not disconnected, there is basically no impact; however, if the looseness leads to a disconnection, it’s not a matter of the signal being too high or too low, but rather the signal cannot be transmitted stably, resulting in significant noise.
If one wire becomes loose, the DCS display shows an out-of-range value instantly; if both wires are loose, the value is too low.
