Is the DEVCTL module necessary when configuring the pump status?

I would like to ask the experts: when configuring a circuit for pump operation, is it possible to use only DICHANNEL instead of a DEVCTL module? Can a diagram showing the operating status of the pump be obtained? Thank you!
The PKS software can work fine without the DEVCTL module, as it has been verified.
The Honeywell system still recommends using the DEVCTL block; it offers more comprehensive features later on – pulse output, constant output, as well as the possibility to add non-system operations and various functions such as alarms generated by feedback from pumps on site. If DI channels are used alone, only the pump status can be displayed, leaving out many functions
