A certain device has a control valve that is often clogged by iron shavings and dirt. The process engineering team has designed modifications to the control circuit; which of the options shown in the diagram represents a more reasonable installation scheme, or are there any other improvement ideas?
Personally, I think D is a reasonable option, but a drain valve needs to be installed at the bottom for regular drainage
C is the most reasonable choice; the majority of book descriptions refer to C. Low-point drains should be installed before and after C. If the fluid contains many impurities, a hard-sealed control valve can be used
None of the four options seem sensible, as you can’t get rid of the iron particles and dirt in the pipelines; the best approach is to install two parallel filters in front of the control valve, one in use and the other as a backup

None of them are suitable for materials containing mechanical impurities to operate in. To address the problem fundamentally, it is necessary to add filtering facilities, for reference.
The best approach is to install a filter in front of the control valve, using one as a backup, or to address the issue of debris at its source. If such conditions are not available, the control valve shown in Figure C can be placed at a higher position, or the feed pipeline can be lowered, so that the debris settles at the bottom of the vertical pipe; it can then be removed periodically or discharged downstream. It is better to make the vertical pipe thicker to improve the separation effect.
My personal thoughts are as follows: The above four process routes have no actual connection to the problems that have arisen; the process should be designed with the process equipment in mind, taking into account the actual issues; 1. First, we need to know what the medium being transported is; it contains iron debris and other impurities, all of which are solid particles. Therefore, we should install a filter at the inlet side. This filter should be equipped with a drain mechanism as well as a differential pressure gauge, which is used to determine when it’s time to service the filter elements ; 2. It is recommended that any control valve be installed horizontally, rather than vertically; this is determined by the internal structure of most control valves.
