The term \"safety barrier\" for instruments is understandable in a literal sense, but why does the indication of safety barrier failures become inaccurate in actual operation?
There’s a problem with the safety barrier; why are the DCS data inaccurate?

The field instrument signals pass through an advanced safety barrier before being sent to the DCS; therefore, a failure of the safety barrier directly affects the data displayed on the DCS.
