Can’t IP67 cover IP65? Those who have studied IEC 60529 in detail, please give some advice.
The protection rating for chemical processing sites should typically be IP65 or IP66. For the ASCO solenoid valves used in my current projects, I noticed that the product labels only indicate IP67 rating, with no indication of IP66 or IP65; I am considering returning them and placing a new order. Seeking the opinions of all experts here.
The IP67 rating is higher than both IP65 and IP66; do you think that’s possible?
Everyone must understand clearly: IP66 is compatible with IP65, and IP68 is compatible with IP67, but IP67 is not compatible with IP66. The testing principles are different. If rain and water leakage protection is required, choose components labeled IP66/IP67.
Second characteristic data: 5 and 6 indicate protection against splashing water and intense water sprays; 7 and 8 indicate protection against short-term flooding and continuous flooding. So between 5 and 6, high coverage with low levels ; 7, 8: High coverage, low ; But there is no high coverage with low between 5, 6 and 7, 8. See the attachment for details.
According to the standards, coverage should not be possible, but manufacturers usually manage to achieve it. It’s just unclear whether dual certification is available; so there’s no need to rush into returning or exchanging the product yet – consult the manufacturer first.
Thank you all; I found the basis in IEC60529. However, the word \"consider\" is used, which suggests that there is still a possibility of discussion or acceptance; it is recommended to discuss with the client to see if they are willing to accept it.
IP67 can definitely be used in IP65 and IP66 environments; just as the CT rating in terms of explosion protection can certainly be applied to BT and AT ratings
