We have a radar level gauge that has suddenly started giving an alarm indicating a disconnected connection. The voltage at the cabinet is normal, the gauge does not display any readings; the measured voltage is 3.1 volts, while the voltage when the gauge’s cable is disconnected is 21 volts. We would appreciate it if someone could help analyze what might be causing this issue What is the principle? Is there any simple way to judge it?
Has the wiring of the entire circuit been checked – including whether there is water intrusion, whether the connections are secure, and what wiring system is used?
The voltage is 21V, which is too low to reach the instrument’s minimum voltage level; therefore, it does not light up. This is a quite common situation. Increase the output voltage of the 24V power supply, or obtain a 24V power supply on-site.
21V should be within the allowable operating voltage range of the instrument, right? Learn from the teachers*.
Is there a problem with the AI channel? Try another channel.
What brand and model of radar level gauge? Check whether water has entered the instrument and whether the power supply for the safety barrier is functioning properly.
First, disconnect the signal line and send a signal from the outside to determine whether the circuit is functioning properly If everything is normal, check again for loose connections in the instruments, water ingress, screen display issues, and any alarm messages Eliminate step by step accordingly.
