Installation of the boiler drum level gauge: Due to the principles underlying capacitive level transmitters, whether the installation is proper on-site affects the measurement accuracy of the instrument. Before installation, the following issues should be given due consideration: a) For probes without coaxial sleeves, it is required that the cross-section of the container be regular, and the probe must be parallel to the container wall during installation. For containers such as horizontal cylindrical tanks, it is recommended to use probes with coaxial grounding wires, which is particularly important in the case of non-conductive media. b) For probes without a coaxial sleeve, if the medium being measured is conductive while the tank wall is non-conductive, it is necessary to add an auxiliary electrode next to the probe. This can improve the stability and accuracy of the instrument. The auxiliary electrode is required to be a rigid metal rod of the same length as the probe and relatively fixed; one end of it extends into the bottom of the liquid, while the other end is connected to the instrument housing. c) There should be no interference at the electrode installation site, such as agitators or feed inlets. Be careful that the probe does not come into contact with any substance other than the medium being measured! d) There is sufficient space on the top of the tank to carry out installation, commissioning, and other related operations. e) When installed vertically from above, the length L of the rod-type or cable-type probe shall meet the requirement of this formula: L = container height – 30 mm. f) Instrument grounding is crucial. In some cases, it is necessary to wrap the connection threads with tape or hemp rope to achieve sealing, but this affects the reliability of grounding. Therefore, an external cable is required to connect the grounding terminal on the instrument enclosure to the container in order to achieve reliable grounding. g) During the probe installation process, do not scratch the outer insulating layer of the electrode. h) The gauge head can rotate about 270 degrees left and right for wiring purposes. Do not exceed the rotation range. After the installation and calibration are complete, make sure to tighten the case cover to ensure the instrument’s sealing.
