Has anyone used a separate position sensor that is independent of the locator? How’s it working?

Our factory uses Siemens valve positioners that are connected via a feedback rod; since the valves are installed near compressors where there is a lot of vibration, the feedback rod often becomes loose. Moreover, these are return valves, which are quite important. I read in some materials that there is an external position sensor which only requires a signal wire to be connected to the locator. I wonder if it works well? Can it also be installed on top of the current setup? Please advise. As stated in the Siemens positioner manual: Position sensor unit (order number C73451-A430-D78). It consists of a SIPART PS2 housing with integrated friction fit, a built-in potentiometer, and various plugs and seals.

Why not ask someone from Siemens? Call their hotline.

I’ve used it; it also has compressor backflow and significant vibration, resulting in poor actual performance. The issue remains loose connections

It is recommended to use the feedback signal provided by the valve positioner; split-type units do not perform well, and the error becomes even greater when they are installed improperly
