As a professional measuring instrument, radar level gauges have been highly favored by many industries since their introduction. But do people really understand them? Today, I’m here specifically to clear things up for everyone by explaining the differences in the names of radar level gauges. Strictly speaking, “radar level gauge” is the most common term used in the industry; it has various other names as well, such as level gauge, fluid level gauge, or material level gauge. There are also terms like radar fluid level gauge and radar material level gauge. There are many names, but in reality they all mean the same thing; a level gauge is simply another term for a radar level gauge. Level gauges include material level gauges and liquid level gauges, while radar level gauges encompass both radar material level gauges and radar liquid level gauges. Apart from the slight difference in the naming, their only difference lies in the substance being measured. Radar level gauges and level meters can be used to measure solids and liquids, while radar bulk material level gauges and bulk material level meters are generally used only for measuring solids; radar liquid level gauges and liquid level meters, on the other hand, are used for measuring liquids. There are three types in terms of model: ① conventional guided-wave radar level gauge, ② intelligent type, and ③ corrosion-resistant rod type. Among these three types, intelligent radar level gauges are typically used in environments with a high amount of solids and powders, such as coal mines and slag. Guided wave radar level gauges are used in factories that handle liquids, such as gasoline and refined oil. When the object being measured is corrosive, the rod-type radar level gauge boasts exceptional corrosion resistance, such as against hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and the like. Which one has better interference resistance? For example, will level gauges be affected by dust, and will level sensors be affected by liquid mist?
