Should all the pressure gauges in the factory be treated as those requiring mandatory inspection, and sent for testing every six months? Is that acceptable?
Generally, pressure gauges that require mandatory calibration are suitable for applications where high precision and a wide measurement range are necessary, such as in laboratory tests and quality control during production processes. If all the pressure gauges in your factory are of this type, it is acceptable to conduct semi-annual inspections in accordance with the requirements for mandatory calibration. However, for some pressure gauges that are not subject to mandatory calibration, it may be sufficient to calibrate them according to standard procedures for ordinary gauges—that is, once every 1–2 years. The specific requirements still depend on the specifications and usage conditions of the pressure gauges. First, all pressure gauges should be classified into three grades: A, B, and C. Grades A and B require mandatory calibration in accordance with legal regulations, while grade C instruments, which are not critical, do not need to undergo mandatory calibration. According to item 16 under the first-level index and item (21) under the second-level index in the revised “Catalogue of Measuring Instruments Subject to Compulsory Management”, pressure gauges used for indication or display purposes must undergo compulsory verification.
