For the fine chemical production line, our management recently asked us to design on-site IO cabinets in order to reduce costs (for cables, cable trays, etc.). I’m curious to know if anyone has done or seen something like this before – is it convenient to use in practice, and are there any issues identified by experts?

What is present on-site cannot be called a cabinet; the largest size for a wiring box should not exceed 1 meter, otherwise it cannot be referred to as an on-site IO
Yes, we plan to make an explosion-proof box sized 600×800, which will contain terminal blocks and clips, etc. The problem this creates is that there will be many explosion-proof boxes in the workshop; therefore, I’m wondering if there are any other cases like this

It seems that Turck’s solution is a bit more focused at the moment, but it’s expensive; it can communicate with many systems. The Smatr system from the central control unit and the OCS from Lenze are quite similar in function

While this method saves on initial construction costs, the subsequent operation and maintenance costs might offset those savings, and there may also be a need for modifications later on, which again represents a significant expense
