Fault background: One 24VDC power supply provides power to the flame detection device and multiple mass flow meters. The positive 24V cable of an 85-series Fireye flame detector became damaged and came into contact with ground, resulting in two power fluctuations; it was during the third fluctuation that the fuse (250V 1A) burned out. Result: Multiple flowmeters went offline due to voltage fluctuations. I have two questions: 1. Why did it take two occurrences of voltage fluctuations to cause the fuse to blow? Is the insurance rating too high (250V 1A)? 2. Why does parallel power supply cause other flow meters to lose power?
1. The fuse may not have blown immediately because the fault current did not reach the level required to cause it to blow right away. A fuse rated at 250V 1A may be able to handle a relatively high overload current in a 24VDC circuit, which makes it less likely to blow. 2. During parallel power supply, a short circuit in one device can cause the supply voltage to drop or trigger the power protection mechanism, resulting in a decrease in the voltage of the entire system and thus causing other devices to lose power. .
