Issues regarding the expansion of the S7-200 PLC system

There is currently 1 S7-200 control cabinet. Since there is no space for expansion within the existing cabinet, I would like to know whether the additional input/output modules can be installed in new cabinets (assuming that these new cabinets are placed near the existing one). If that’s possible, how should the hardware be connected?
It seems that 200PLC can only be expanded locally, along with remote IO
It seems that the extension cable for the S7-200 is quite short; it’s unlikely to be long enough to reach the cabinet next to it!
This post was last edited by budaoweng123 on 2017-2-13 at 17:20. Bus extension cable, 0.8 meters long; for CPU 22x/EM 6ES7 290-6AA20-0XA0, the length should be no more than 80 cm. Therefore, it is possible to consider adding guide rails to the side panel of the cabinet after the machine is parked; it’s difficult to extend the cable across cabinets
