What is the difference between DCS and PLC control? Where do those differences manifest in a factory? What is the difference between interlock systems and automatic control systems?
It has little impact on end-users; for example, you can use either a smartphone or a computer to watch TikTok. Users don’t need to worry about the specific differences.
The earliest PLCs were used for sequential control; today’s PLCs are not very different from DCS systems, and interlocks are part of automatic control systems.
However, PLC control requires only one cable, while for DCS control, each instrument needs a cable connected to the DCS control room
