Regarding the layout of the engineer station

For a previous project, the client insisted that the equipment be placed in the cabinet room, arguing that this way the engineer wouldn’t have to keep going back and forth between the engineer’s room and the cabinet room while performing operations. For the current project, cabinet rooms have been set up near each workshop site; the client doesn’t need to perform operations on-site. Since the space is limited, only consideration was given to where the cabinets would be placed initially. Now I want to confirm whether it’s necessary to have an engineer station in the on-site cabinet room. I’m not sure what the client meant earlier – does placing remote IO devices in the on-site cabinet room require an engineer station?
An engineer station is not necessarily required in the on-site cabinet room. Generally speaking: 1. The engineer station is used for daily monitoring, maintenance and debugging, as well as troubleshooting; it is generally recommended to set it up separately to facilitate long-term use. 2. If the on-site space is limited and the owner explicitly does not require frequent on-site operation, engineer stations can be installed only in a centralized area (such as a control room). 3. However, if the owner emphasizes the need for frequent maintenance or tuning on-site (such as regularly adjusting parameters or checking the status of on-site equipment), for convenience’s sake, an engineer station can also be placed in the on-site cabinet room. In summary, there are no strict requirements stating that an engineer station must be installed in every on-site cabinet room; the decision should be made based on the owner’s needs, operational and maintenance practices, as well as space constraints. .
Engineers stand in the cabinet room; it is part of experience that they do not need to run back and forth between the engineer’s room and the cabinet room while performing maintenance tasks. Especially when dealing with issues such as card malfunctions or communication problems, as well as during program downloading, it is convenient to observe the status of various indicator lights. Otherwise, run back and forth between the two sides.
