In the past, China’s high-end flow meter market was dominated by international giants for a long time. Recently, reporters learned that Weilang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., located in Chenji Town, Yizheng City, has not only succeeded in breaking foreign technological monopolies but also achieved domestic substitution for high-end flow measurement devices in the energy sector. In the production workshop of Jiangsu Weilang, a large flow meter that was in the process of being manufactured caught the journalists’ attention. The staff member told the reporter that this flow meter is called an eddy current flow meter; it can measure various media such as nitrogen and high-temperature steam, and it is the flagship product of the company. It is understood that in the past, China’s high-end flow meter market was long dominated by international giants, exhibiting three main characteristics: technological dependence, high costs, and concentrated risks. Foreign brands account for over 90% of the market share, posing a potential threat to the security of China’s petrochemical, power, and other industrial chains. Jiangsu Weilang has achieved breakthroughs in this field through technical accumulation and research efforts. On December 18, 2024, the 10-million-ton project at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, China’s largest world-class petrochemical industry base, was completed. This modern refining and chemical processing plant relies on the technical support of Jiangsu Weilang. To address this world-class challenge of measuring high-volume acidic gases in the petrochemical industry, the Weilang technology team worked side by side with engineers from Zhenhai Refining & Chemical to develop the world’s first DN700 swirl flow meter. This innovation enabled China’s petrochemical industry to make the transition from \"Made in China\" to \"Intelligently Made in China\" for its key equipment for the first time. Today, Jiangsu Weilang has established a comprehensive intellectual property system. It has developed various types of flowmeters and electromagnetic flowmeter products on its own, and thanks to their excellent technical performance and market success, these products have become industry benchmarks, continuously driving technological innovation in the field of flow measurement. Among them, the domestic market share of its core product, the vortex flowmeter, has exceeded 65%, and sales are expected to reach nearly 40 million yuan this year. The company’s leader stated that throughout its development, it has received strong support from the governments at both the Yizheng city and Chenji town levels. In the future, companies will advance their globalization efforts and establish R&D centers with the capability for independent innovation ; At the same time, it actively participates in the development of standards and specifications, constantly moving toward the higher end of the industry.
