I came across this by chance today; I’m asking the experts here – what component of a Fox valve is this? What role does it play in the gas circuit? {:9001:}
Judging from the picture, it appears to be the pilot valve assembly of a Fox valve, which is primarily used to control the opening and closing of the air path in the main valve. This structure is common in control valves, where a low-flow air pressure signal is used to control the operation of the high-flow main valve. It is recommended to check the model indicated on the nameplate of the valve body, and refer to the technical manual on the Fox official website to determine its specific functions.
For the three-way switching valve, the handle is missing; normally there should be a handle that allows for 180° rotation, thereby indicating the AUTO/MANUAL position on the valve body – these correspond to the normal controller mode and the manual wheel operation mode respectively. In MANUAL mode, the two sides of the cylinder are connected to each other.
You should take a photo of the entire piping from the side. This thing is most likely a three-way switching valve; its function is that when set to AUTO, the valve is controlled automatically, which is quite easy to understand. When switched to manual mode, the air pressure inside the cylinder is balanced through the air supply tube; this makes it easier to operate the valve by using the handwheel, as there is no need to disconnect the air supply and release pressure in order to use the handwheel
