Plasma denitration is a relatively new technology that uses plasma to generate high-energy particles. In this method, high-voltage discharge is employed to create an unbalanced plasma under normal temperature and pressure, resulting in the production of a large number of high-energy electrons and reactive particles such as hydroxyl radicals. These particles oxidize and degrade NO molecules, ultimately converting NO into harmless substances. Double Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DDBD), as a type of plasma method for removing NO gas, features a simple setup, high reaction efficiency, strong practicality, and can be carried out at normal temperature and pressure. DDBD is composed of numerous filamentary breakdown channels; a dielectric layer separates the two electrodes. When a sufficiently high alternating voltage is applied between these electrodes, the VOC gases in the gap between them are broken down. Almost all VOC molecules are excited, ionized, and radicalized, resulting in the formation of a large number of reactive species such as O2‑, O, OH, O3, and high-energy free electrons. These reactive species enable reactions that are difficult to carry out under normal conditions to be completed easily within a plasma system, allowing the NO pollutants to be almost completely decomposed in a very short time. The DDBD device is highly effective in removing NO gas, and this technology holds great potential for development and market prospects.
