I have a few questions regarding the high-pressure oxygen pipelines in Texaco gasification processes for those experts out there. 1. Is TIG welding used? 2. What should the excess height of the internal weld not exceed? 3. Was degreasing done before welding? 4. How many layers will be welded in total?
The welding of oxygen pipelines primarily aims to prevent the formation of impurities (particles) at the weld site inside the pipe; as long as this is ensured, the requirements are the same as those for other types of welding. The purpose of using TIG welding for the root pass is to reduce or eliminate the formation of impurities (particles). As for degreasing, it is a process carried out before delivery; the welding process does not produce grease. For specific welding process requirements, refer to other relevant welding standards. They are equivalent in terms of welding strength.

The weld bead height should be as low as possible, with a smooth transition ; 3. Degreasing can be done before welding, and degreasing can be repeated after welding for extra safety ; 4. The number of welding layers to use depends on the size and wall thickness of the pipe; an experienced welder will know how much is appropriate ;
For the oxygen pipelines in our factory, degreasing is carried out prior to welding (using acetone), and TIG welding is used for the root pass; we require that the weld height be less than 2 mm, and joint degreasing is performed before delivery
