The coking by-product storage area holds crude benzene and tar. Crude benzene is classified as extremely hazardous; what is the toxicity level of tar, and can it be stored in the same storage area as crude benzene? This is because the design specifications for fire dikes stipulate that storage tanks holding liquids of toxicity classes I and II do not need to be located within the same fire dike as other flammable liquids. If tar is also classified as extremely hazardous, and the pressure pipelines for its transport are also rated as GC1, it becomes quite troublesome. . .

It cannot be stored in the same tank group as crude benzene, as their physical and chemical properties are different.
Is there any basis for this? Crude benzene is classified as Category A B, while tar is classified as Category C A. The Design Code for Fire Dikes in Storage Tank Areas (GB50351-2014) only states that materials of Category A B and Category B can be placed within the same fire dike as those of Category C A, but should not be placed together with those of Category C B. But it is not known which category the toxicity of tar falls into.
