Calculation of volatile matter

Has anyone heard of the Merrick method? (I’m not sure if this is the correct translation; it’s called the Merrick method in English.) It is said to be able to calculate the volatile components, using element balance matrices for the calculations
I’m hearing about this for the first time too; before, it was measured directly
I’ve heard of it, but I haven’t worked with it. Volatile matter detection is relatively simple and easy; determining volatile matter through calculations is less common
