Latest Progress on the Technical Upgrade Project of Qilu No.1 Chemical Plant’s 45,000 Nm3/h Syngas Plant Using Two Jinhua Furnaces / Author/Source: Gasification World / Date: 2021-06-02 / Clicks: 29. On the morning of June 1, a pre-inspection meeting for the commissioning of the Jinhua furnaces and three cooling towers as part of the technical upgrade project for Qilu No.1 Chemical Plant’s 45,000 Nm3/h (CO+H2) syngas plant, which is being constructed by Huisheng Engineering, was held at the Chemical Machinery Group. The heads of Qilu Yihua, Qingchuang Jinhua, Huisheng Engineering, and the Chemical Machinery Group, along with relevant technical personnel, attended this meeting. The meeting held in-depth discussions on the progress of manufacturing the Jinhua furnace and the three cooling towers, the ITP plan, transportation, and on-site installation, and ultimately reached a consensus. The successful holding of this pre-startup inspection meeting has laid a solid foundation for the manufacturing and delivery of the Jinhua furnace and the three cooling towers. From May 24 to 25, a review meeting on the Jinhua gasification technology model for the technical renovation project of Yangmei Qilu No.1 Chemical’s 45,000 Nm3/h (CO+H2) syngas plant was held at Huisheng Engineering (China) Co., Ltd. The 45,000 Nm3/h syngas plant at Qilu Yihua will adopt the Jinhua Furnace (3.0) coal-water slurry gasification technology to replace the existing fixed-bed batch gas production process. It will be constructed within the existing plant area, with some of the existing equipment and utility systems being removed, reused, or modified, while new air separation, gasification, shift conversion, low-temperature methanol washing, hydrogen production, and sulfur recovery units will be built. The 45,000 Nm3/h (CO+H2) syngas production unit at Yangmei Qilu Yihua utilizes the water-cooled wall waste-heat gasifier technology for coal slurry developed by Beijing Qingchuang Jinhua Technology Co., Ltd. (Jinhua Furnace 3.0). The project adopts one operating unit and one standby unit, with a gasification pressure of 4.5 MPaG and a total gas flow rate of 45,000 Nm3/h (CO+H2). The technical renovation project for the 45,000 Nm3/h syngas plant at Zibo Qilu First Fertilizer Co., Ltd., belonging to Yangmei Group, is located within the premises of Qilu First Fertilizer Plant in Linzi District. The proposed project uses coal as raw material, replacing the existing fixed-bed batch gas production process with pressurized gasification of coal slurry, and substituting the current wet desulfurization and PSA carbon removal processes with low-temperature methanol washing for purification. For the recovery of acidic gases, the existing batch sulfur melting recovery process is replaced by a wet acid production method. Additionally, two 85t/h boilers that burn mixed waste materials are to be modified into circulating fluidized bed coal boilers, along with corresponding modifications to the dust removal, desulfurization, and denitrification equipment; one 6MW steam turbine generator set will be retained. The total investment for the project is 904.75 million yuan. The new production facilities include air separation, water-coal slurry gasification, CO shift, low-temperature methanol washing, PSA hydrogen production, and sulfur recovery units. The original ammonia synthesis, urea production, and #1, #2 waste heat recovery boilers were removed, while the existing systems for coal storage and transportation, #3, #4 waste heat recovery boilers, circulating water, chemical water treatment, sewage treatment, power transformation, and other utility systems were upgraded and put to use, ultimately resulting in a synthetic gas production capacity of 45,000 m3/h. Gasification has signed contracts for 2 Jinhua furnaces. The gasification process package was commissioned in September 2019. Yangmei Group Zibo Qilu First Fertilizer Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Qilu First Fertilizer) was formerly known as the First Fertilizer Plant of Qilu Branch of Sinopec Corporation. It was established in July 1969 and began operations in December 1972; it was China’s first medium-sized domestic nitrogen fertilizer plant that used refinery off-gases as raw materials to produce synthetic ammonia and urea. After a technical transformation from gas to coal operation was carried out on the facility in 2004, it was restructured at the end of December, breaking away from Qilu Petrochemical Company to enter the market and operate independently. In December 2007, the holding subsidiary Shandong Jianlan Chemical Co., Ltd. was established. In March 2008, it underwent a strategic restructuring with Shanxi Yangquan (Coal Industry) Group Co., Ltd., becoming part of Yangmei Group. Qilu Yihua is located in Linzi, Zibo, Shandong – the former capital of the Qi state – within the main production complex of Qilu Petrochemical Company. It covers an area of 26.23 hectares and has its own dedicated railway line. The main products of Qilu Yihua are urea, methanol, liquid ammonia, steam, octanol, n-butanol, isobutanol, n-butyraldehyde, isobutyraldehyde, etc. The main raw materials used in the company’s production are anthracite and propylene. Beijing Qingchuang Jinhua Technology Co., Ltd. focuses on water-coal slurry gasification technology and integrates production, education, and research. Through nearly 20 years of research in the field of coal gasification by the team led by Academician Yue Guangxi from the Department of Energy and Power Engineering at Tsinghua University, the Jinhua Furnace 3.0 technology (a technology that enables direct connection of the water-cool wall to the waste boiler using water-coal slurry) was developed. Assessments conducted by the Petrochemical Industry Federation have confirmed that the third-generation Jinhua Furnace solves the challenges associated with coal gasification worldwide, enables the direct use of water-coal slurry in waste boilers, and puts China’s coal gasification technology at the forefront of the world. It also completely solved the gasification problems associated with the high-carbon, high-sulfur, and high-ash coals in Shanxi, as well as the high-potassium and high-sodium coals in Xinjiang. The company holds nearly 100 patents for Jinhua furnace water-coal slurry gasification technology as well as related technical patents.
