Anxiously, is the gas in the basement lean gas or rich gas? Why is it set in the basement? Thank you
The gas in the basement is not raw gas; it is clean gas that has been purified through chemical treatment. Since the heating system is designed to be located in the basement, heating takes place there
I read in books that the gas in the coke oven basement contains carbon monoxide; does that mean the gas there is not coke oven gas, but rather purified gas from blast furnaces or converters? Is the heating system used for heating coke ovens?
Coke oven gas also contains carbon monoxide; some coking plants use blast furnace gas or a mixture of coke oven gas and blast furnace gas for heating. We use coke oven gas for heating here.
Both blast furnace gas and coke oven gas contain CO, the difference being only in the amount. In some coking plants, the coke ovens are regenerative type, and the basement contains both blast furnace gas pipelines and coke oven gas pipelines. In some coking plants, the coke ovens are of the single-heating type, and the basement contains only the coal gas pipelines for the ovens.
