According to a report from 11th Chemical Construction in March 2025, the company won the bid for the general contract of Yitai Ili Energy Co., Ltd.’s 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil demonstration project, with a contract value of 629 million yuan. On March 11, Shaanxi Construction Co., Ltd. announced that it had won the bid for the construction work of Section 2 of the main plant area for the 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil demonstration project undertaken by Yitai Ili Energy Co., Ltd., with the bid amount totaling 718 million yuan. According to the website of the government of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang, at 12:00 on February 21, during the ceremony marking the simultaneous commencement of construction on major projects for the first quarter of 2025 in Chabuchar Xibe Autonomous County, Zhao Cuifang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ili Prefecture, Minister of **, and Secretary of the Education Work Committee, gave the order for 39 major projects to start construction simultaneously. Itai Yili Energy Co., Ltd.’s 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil demonstration project is among them. The Yitai Ili Energy coal-to-oil project is located in the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang. It produces a total of 1.0582 million tons per year of products such as alkylbenzene, high-carbon alcohols, high-quality light hydrocarbons, FTO waxes, n-C10-14 compounds, white oil, liquid paraffin, and liquefied petroleum gas; meanwhile, by-products such as mixed alcohols and sulfur are also generated. The 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil demonstration project began construction in June 2011. The total investment planned for the project is 16.068 billion yuan. By the end of 2022, a total investment of 7.11 billion yuan had been made. At the 24th meeting of the eighth board of directors held on February 8, 2023, Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal Co., Ltd. approved a resolution to suspend the construction of this project.
