Construction begins on the tank farm for Anhui’s 1.7 million tons per year coal-to-olefins project / Source: Date: 2017-07-31 Clicks: 24 On July 28, construction started on the tank farm and vehicle liquid loading/unloading stations for Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 1.7 million tons per year coal-to-methanol and olefins production project. This project comprises four main components: the pressure tank area, the liquid caustic tank area, the methanol tank area, and the vehicle liquid loading/unloading station. It was constructed by Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Company, with completion scheduled for August 20, 2018. Recently, Zhongan United completed the intermediate handover of the water supply system for its coal chemical project. This is the first production unit in Zhongan United’s coal chemical project to reach this stage of completion, indicating that the construction of the facility and the installation of its equipment have been fully finished. The unit has now moved from individual testing to joint operational testing. On June 15, Sinopec and Wanbei Coal and Electricity held an on-site meeting for the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Project at Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., to review the progress of various tasks carried out following the project’s resumption meeting on January 20, and to discuss and plan the key tasks for the next phase of the project’s construction. The meeting called for full efforts to advance the project construction, ensuring that investment remains at 18 billion, with the goal of completing the project by the end of 2018 and having the entire process operational by the first half of 2019. The Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Integration Project is a key construction project of Sinopec and Anhui Province. Zhongan United Coal & Chemical Co., Ltd. was established on December 18, 2010, with a registered capital of 4 billion yuan. It is funded equally at 50% each by Sinopec Corporation and Anhui Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group Co., Ltd. The core process of the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Integration Project utilizes the S-MTO patent technology owned by Sinopec, while the gasification unit employs the SE-Dongfang furnace technology also owned by Sinopec. Using coal from the Zhujixi mine as raw material, methanol and converted olefins (LDPE/PP), ethylene glycol (MEG) and other products are produced. Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. is responsible for the overall management of the design, procurement, and construction of the MTO/OCC and PP units in this project, as well as six supporting facilities including the control room and 110 kV substation ； Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for the design and construction of the gasification unit for the contracted project.
