Acceleration in the preliminary work for 500,000-ton/year coal-based ethylene glycol project in Ordos Author/Source: Date: 2017-09-27 Clicks: 57 On September 26, a coordination meeting was held for the preliminary design of Jutai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 500,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year. The project leader of Jutai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd., representatives from China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Aerospace Changzheng Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd., and Hualu Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., along with experts, attended the meeting. The meeting began with presentations by various design firms on the preliminary design plans for the project. The attendees discussed topics such as basic design data, process equipment, facility layout, and planning drawings, and offered specific suggestions and opinions. Zhang Qinghai, General Manager of the Production Management Center at Jutai Group, explained the specific matters related to this coordination meeting. He pointed out that coordinating the preliminary design is of great significance for the construction of the ethylene glycol project, as it marks the entry of the project’s preparatory work into its final stage. He hoped that all parties would adopt a rigorous, responsible, and meticulous attitude to further improve the basic data and key design elements of the project’s preliminary design, thereby ensuring its smooth progress. During the meeting, the participants conducted an on-site inspection of JiuTai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd.’s project for the annual production of 500,000 tons of ethylene glycol. On September 5, the 200,000/500,000 tons per year ethylene glycol production project of Jutai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd., which is part of Jutai Group Co., Ltd., as well as the 1 million tons per year ethylene glycol production project of Inner Mongolia Jutai New Materials Co., Ltd., signed engineering design contracts with Hualu Engineering. The contract scope includes all process units other than the air separation unit, gasification unit, shift unit, and low-temperature methanol washing unit, as well as the utility systems, auxiliary facilities, and the overall project design. Jiutai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd. has currently put into operation projects for the production of 1 million tons of methanol and 100,000 tons of dimethyl ether; the ethylene glycol production project will make use of some of the remaining capacity of the 1 million-ton-per-year methanol production facility, by modifying certain utility systems and auxiliary production units. On September 10, Jutai Group, China Aerospace Changzheng, and China Energy Engineering signed a framework agreement on industrial gas cooperation for the 500,000-ton per year ethylene glycol production project at Jutai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd., as well as the 1 million ton per year ethylene glycol production project at Inner Mongolia Jutai New Materials Co., Ltd. The three parties will cooperate in areas such as project technology, solution evaluation, project construction, investment cooperation, and factory operation. On September 20, the review of the water resources assessment report for Inner Mongolia Jiu Tai New Materials Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 1 million tons of ethylene glycol per year was completed ； On September 17, the review of the environmental report for the 1 million-ton coal-based ethylene glycol project was completed ； On August 17, the feasibility study report and energy-saving assessment report for the 1 million-ton coal-based ethylene glycol project were reviewed.
