Meeting Held for the New EPC Project for Datang’s Coal-to-Olefins Project Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals Date: 2018-04-23 Clicks: 37 Recently, a meeting was held at Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. for the EPC general contracting project related to the new circulating water system for Datang Duolun Coal Chemicals Co., Ltd.’s coal-to-olefins project, marking the official start of the project’s implementation phase. The EPC general contracting project for the new circulating water plant at Datang Duolun Coal Chemical involves a design capacity of 30,000 m3/h for the circulating water plant. The circulating water pumps consist of 2 motor-driven turbine pumps and 3 electrically driven pumps, along with 6 cooling towers each with a capacity of 5,000 m3/h. The scope of the general contracting work also includes the integration of utility systems such as water, electricity, and steam with the existing systems. The design work for this project is carried out simultaneously in both the interior and exterior areas of the Sinopec Lanzhou/Ningbo boundary zone, while the project implementation is handled by Sinopec Ningbo Engineering’s Shanghai Jinshan branch. The project is scheduled to be completed on October 25, 2018; the timeline is tight, the tasks are substantial, and the available construction period is extremely short. Previously, technical exchanges regarding the main equipment were carried out, and various tasks such as the construction of temporary facilities on site and preparations for commencement of work were completed; the project is now ready to start. On January 30, 2018, Sinopec Ningbo Engineering officially received the award notice for the EPC general contracting project for the new circulating water plant at Datang Dolun Coal Chemical Co., Ltd.; subsequently, an EPC project team was established on February 1. On February 22, the design kickoff meeting for the EPC general contracting project of the new circulating water plant at Datang Inner Mongolia Dolun Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. was held at the Lanzhou branch, marking the official launch of the Datang Dolun EPC project. The Datang Dolun Coal Chemical Project began to be planned and constructed in 2007. Datang Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Datang Power Generation, holds 60% of the shares in Dolun Coal Chemical, while the Datang Group owns the remaining 40% of the shares. It is the first coal chemical project that enables Datang Power Generation to pursue a strategic transformation toward diversification, and it is also the first coal-to-olefins project to be built in China. The project has an annual production capacity of 460,000 tons of polypropylene, 1.68 million tons of the intermediate product methanol; it also produces 182,200 tons of gasoline, 36,400 tons of LPG, and 38,000 tons of sulfur. The gasification unit uses Shell’s Dutch pressurized coal gasification technology ; Low-temperature methanol washing, methanol synthesis, methanol distillation, and methanol to propylene are carried out using the German Lurgi “3in1” process, while propylene polymerization employs the American Dow Unipol gas-phase fluidized bed process.
