On April 30, the reaction gas compressor unit in the methanol-to-olefins facility part of the Yan’an Energy and Chemicals Coal, Oil, and Gas Resource Comprehensive Utilization Project managed to complete its commissioning tests successfully, marking the entry of this facility’s commissioning process into its final phase. This development also represents a crucial step toward the timely operation of the MTO unit. The reaction gas compression unit of the MTO plant is supplied as a complete package by Hitachi. The turbine used is a fully condensing steam turbine manufactured by Hangzhou Steam Turbine Co., Ltd.; it is driven by medium-pressure steam, and the unit is arranged in a four-stage, two-cylinder configuration. The main function of the reaction gas compressor is to compress the reaction gas coming from the DMTO unit in four stages, raising its pressure to a certain level so as to create the conditions necessary for separating the materials in the olefin separation unit. It plays a key role as a link between different sections within the entire MTO plant. On April 26, an expert review meeting on the overall commissioning plan for the Yanchang Petroleum Yan’an Energy and Chemical Coal, Oil, and Gas Resources Comprehensive Utilization Project was held in Xi’an. The conference invited 7 experts in the fields of coal chemical engineering and petrochemical engineering to conduct a comprehensive review of the overall commissioning plan. The expert group listened to the report presented by Yan’an Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. of Yanchang Petroleum on the commissioning plan, carefully reviewed and discussed it, and found that the plan had a clear structure and comprehensive content, enabling effective guidance for the project’s commissioning work. They unanimously agreed to approve the overall commissioning plan. At present, the various process units of the project have gradually entered the stage of joint commissioning. Yan’an Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. of Yan’an Petroleum, established in September 2009, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shaanxi Yan’an Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd. It is primarily responsible for the construction of projects aimed at the comprehensive utilization of coal, oil, and gas resources in Yan’an, as well as their operation and management once such projects are completed. The Yan’an coal, oil, and gas resources comprehensive utilization project is the largest energy and chemical project invested in by Yanchang Petroleum Group in Yan’an. With a total investment of around 24 billion yuan, the project consists of 10 production units along with the corresponding utility systems and auxiliary facilities. The project is located in the Luo River valley in the southern part of Fuxian County, Shaanxi Province. It uses associated gas from Yanchang Petroleum’s oil fields, refinery light oil, and coal as raw materials to build 10 production units for various products, including 1.8 million tons per year of methanol, 600,000 tons per year of products derived from methanol through further processing, 400,000 tons per year of light oil processed products, 450,000 tons per year of polyethylene, 250,000 tons per year of polypropylene, 200,000 tons per year of butanol, 80,000 tons per year of dipropyl heptanol, and 50,000 tons per year of EPDM rubber. Additionally, supporting infrastructure and off-site facilities will be constructed. The project is scheduled to have its entire production process operational by the end of June 2018, enabling the production of qualified products.
