The company built two sets of methanol production facilities using gas as a feedstock, in phases one and two. Both systems were designed by the same engineering firm; they have identical processes and equipment, with a basically symmetrical layout. In actual operation, there are some differences in the control systems, two of which are as follows: first, the oxygen consumption varies, with a difference of several hundred or even thousands of cubic meters per hour under normal operating conditions; Second, the one-way conversion rate for carbon monoxide synthesis is different. It is impossible to achieve complete consistency, and there are many factors that contribute to such inconsistencies; for example: the accuracy of measuring instruments, the skill level of operators, the magnitude of processing loads, and the fact that the design of the second phase of the installation is certainly more optimized than that of the first phase, etc
The difference is significant; it has been this way since operation began, with hardly any changes to the process equipment
As mentioned above, factors such as whether there have been improvements in the process design for the first and second phases, whether there are errors in the instruments themselves, whether the gas composition differs, or whether there are differences in the operating conditions of the equipment, can all lead to different behaviors in the two sets of equipment. I think this is completely normal
