On December 24, 2025, China Petroleum Fuel Oil Company successfully obtained the pilot license for methanol refueling of international vessels in Zhoushan. This is CNPC’s first domestic methanol refueling license, highlighting the company’s core competitiveness in the field of green fuel refueling. Amid the global trend toward a greener and lower-carbon shipping industry, methanol, as a clean and low-carbon alternative fuel for ships, has become an important factor in helping the shipping sector achieve its \"dual carbon\" goals, thanks to its advantages such as high combustion efficiency and low pollutant emissions. To obtain the qualification for methanol refueling successfully, the fuel oil company formed a specialized team and carried out comprehensive preparations in various areas, including the acquisition of methanol resources, the approval process for ships capable of carrying out refueling operations, the establishment of a safety management system, and the training of specialized personnel, all in strict compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements. Ultimately, the company passed rigorous audits and inspections, meeting all the requirements for operating as a pilot facility for methanol refueling of ships at sea. Since engaging in the business of refueling ships under bonded conditions, the fuel oil company has always adhered to the philosophy of \"green development and responsibility first.\" It has keenly perceived the trends in industry transformation and actively pursued developments in the field of green fuel refueling. Previously, in July 2025, the company worked together with Daqing Refining & Chemical to advance a pilot project for a complete green methanol production process in China Petroleum, thereby establishing a full-scale green methanol supply chain.
