China Five Rings Signs Chemical EPC Contract for 200,000-Ton Green Methanol Project in Jilin

Recently, China Fifth Ring Engineering Co., Ltd., which is part of China Chemical Engineering, and Jiyuan (Siping) Green Energy Co., Ltd. successfully signed an EPC general contract for the project that combines wind and solar power with biomass to produce green hydrogen and green methanol, and engineering design work has been fully launched. Located in Lishu, Jilin, this project innovatively combines renewable energy-based water electrolysis for hydrogen production with biomass gasification technology to manufacture zero-carbon green methanol. The project generates hydrogen using power supplied via wind power lines, and it employs an advanced fluidized-bed gasification process to process agricultural waste. The syngas produced is combined with green hydrogen; after purification and synthesis, green methanol is obtained, thereby enabling the recycling of carbon dioxide and achieving net-zero emissions. Upon completion, the project will verify the economic viability and reliability of the \"wind, solar, hydrogen storage + biomass chemical engineering\" approach, helping China to take the lead in green energy and chemical technology. It is capable of processing large amounts of biomass resources such as straw each year, thereby reducing pollution. The resulting products can be used as clean fuels or raw materials for the chemical industry, helping to achieve significant decarbonization in transportation and industry. It also provides a way to add high value to agricultural and forestry waste, serving as a model for the upgrading of green industries in a region.
