Author/Source: Date: 2019-01-23 Clicks: 1 On the morning of December 28th, the site of the olefin production project aimed at making use of waste gases in the Qinghai Damei Ganhe Industrial Park, which was under EPC contracting by Sinopec Ningbo Company, was adorned with colorful flags, and a ceremony was held to hand over the 300,000-ton/year polyethylene plant. The first pile was driven for the polyethylene plant in July 2014, marking the official start of construction on site; after a period of suspension, work resumed on March 15, 2017. Five years have passed since then. Through various challenges and difficulties, the number of safe working hours exceeded 1 million, and the welding qualification rate reached 99.10%. In the end, all objectives related to civil engineering, equipment installation, process pipeline setup, electrical and instrumentation cable laying, as well as insulation and anti-corrosion measures were successfully achieved, leading to the successful completion of the project. This device utilizes the UNIPOL PE gas-phase technology developed by the American company UNIVATION. It uses ethylene as the raw material, along with butene-1 or hexene-1 as comonomers, to carry out polymerization reactions under specific temperature and pressure conditions in order to produce polyethylene products. The plant includes facilities for raw material purification, polymerization reaction, product degassing, recovered gas recycling, extrusion granulation, mixing, and associated auxiliary equipment. The raw material ethylene/olefin separation unit is fed into this device via an external pipeline ； Butene-1, hexene-1, and isopentane are supplied to this unit from the olefin tank farm, while the catalyst and catalyst promoters are delivered to the unit in barrel form. At the handover ceremony, Xiao Zhenping, the company’s deputy general manager, expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who had worked hard on the project. He said that Ningbo Engineering Company would regard this handover as the beginning of a new journey; under the unified coordination of the general contractor, and in accordance with the established completion plan, the company would organize its efforts carefully to finish all tasks by the set deadlines. It would also work together with the client to address any issues identified during the inspection process, ensuring that the plant could start operating successfully on the first attempt.
