Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group Co., Ltd. was informed that the polypropylene and polyethylene production units of the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Plant, which are considered key projects in Anhui Province as well as Huainan City’s “No. 1 Project,” began producing qualified polymer particles on that day. Thus, the entire process of the Zhong’an United coal chemical plant has been successfully completed, marking a significant achievement in the project’s development. It is reported that since 2019, Zhongan United has seen successive successes in its commissioning efforts. Following the activation of the utility systems, it managed to produce qualified oxygen and nitrogen on April 25th; the polypropylene extrusion granulation unit was successfully commissioned on May 8th, and the polyethylene extrusion granulation unit was also successfully commissioned on May 10th. The SE Dongfang furnace was able to start operating with coal on June 15th, and qualified MTO-grade methanol was produced on July 20th. The successful production of qualified particles by the polypropylene and polyethylene plants this time marks the complete success of the commissioning phase for the Zhongan United Coal Chemical Project. The Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Integration Project is one of the landmark projects in Sinopec’s coal chemical industry, as well as a key project in Anhui Province and Huainan City’s ’No. 1 Project’. The registered capital of this project is 8 billion yuan. The approved total investment for the first phase of the project is 26.7 billion yuan, of which 20.2 billion yuan is allocated to the coal chemical project and 6.5 billion yuan to the coal mine project. In January 2009, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Sinopec Group and Anhui Province **, officially establishing this project. After a decade of effort, the project has finally achieved significant results. Once the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Integration Project is completed and put into operation, it will enable Anhui Province to make a significant leap from using coal as a fuel to utilizing it as a chemical raw material. It will also expand the scope and depth of China’s petrochemical coal chemical industry. Meanwhile, it will inject new momentum into the local economy’s transformation and development, delivering the expected positive impacts and economic benefits.
