Two projects for the technical upgrade of China Coal Hubei Energy Chemical’s syngas-based 1 million tons/year methanol production line have commenced! Author/Source: Coking Encyclopedia Date: 2019-08-13 Clicks: 6 On August 7, in the Tuk Industrial Park in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, staff from Hangyang Co., Ltd., China Air Separation, supervision companies, installation companies, and relevant equipment manufacturers were busy carrying out the installation work for the 75,000 Nm3/h air separation unit of China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as “China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical”). At present, the main civil construction work for this project has been largely completed; the main equipment for air separation has been delivered to the site one after another, and installation work has commenced in full swing. It is understood that the EPC general contractor for the 75,000 Nm3/h air separation unit in the technical transformation project of China Coal Hubei Energy Chemicals’ syngas-based methanol production facility, with an annual output of 1 million tons, is China Air Separation Engineering Co., Ltd., while the supplier of the unit is Hangzhou Hangyang Co., Ltd. The second phase of the 1 million-ton methanol project commenced construction on September 21, 2018. A air separation unit with an oxygen production capacity of 75,000 Nm3/h will be built as part of this project. The air separation unit comprises self-cleaning filters, compressor units, pre-cooling systems, purification systems, pressure increase and expansion systems, cryogenic tank systems, instrumentation and control systems, as well as backup systems. The air separation unit is expected to be completed on July 30, 2020. On July 31, China Coal Enerchemical Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the methanol pipeline project as part of a 1 million-ton capacity expansion project in Bayintoulegai Village, Wushenzhao Town, Wushen Banner. Relevant leaders from the methanol project’s command team, as well as representatives from CNPC Pipeline Bureau and Shandong Tianhao Supervision, attended the ceremony. The methanol pipeline is the first long-distance methanol transmission pipeline in China, and the construction of this pipeline is of great significance. China National Petroleum Pipeline Bureau is the EPC general contractor for this project, responsible for the design, procurement, construction, individual unit testing, and joint commissioning of the pipelines associated with the methanol project, until it is ready for operational testing. The China Coal Energetic Chemicals project, with an annual production capacity of 2 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 3.5 million tons of urea, is located in the Tuk Industrial Zone of the Sulihe Economic Development Zone in Wushen Banner. The construction was carried out in two phases; the first phase, which has an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.75 million tons of urea, included a 2×40,000 Nm3/h air separation unit that was completed and put into operation in 2013. Meanwhile, some of the public facilities for the second phase as well as all the office and living facilities have already been built. Based on the current market conditions and operational status, Phase II of the project plans to shift from producing synthetic ammonia and urea to manufacturing 1 million tons of methanol, thereby supplying MTO-grade methanol feedstock to the olefin plants of China Coal Mengda Company.
