Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Date: 2019-08-29 Clicks: 52 On August 27, a grand ceremony was held to lift the boiler drum in the boiler island of Inner Mongolia JiuTai New Materials’ project aimed at producing 1 million tons of ethylene glycol per year. Mr. Wang Zhen, Chairman of the New Materials Company; Mr. Kang Jianbin, General Manager of China National Chemical Corporation Hualu Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.; Mr. Hu Hao and Mr. Yang Yong, Deputy General Managers of China Energy Engineering Group Northwest Electric Power Construction Engineering Co., Ltd.; Mr. Zhang Weidong, Project Manager of Southwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Chen Shunqiang, Project Director of MCC South Wuhan Engineering Consulting Management Co., Ltd., attended the lifting ceremony. All employees of the company as well as representatives from the participating units were also present at the ceremony. The boiler drum to be lifted this time weighs 69 tons, and it is lifted using a winch. As one of the key stages in boiler installation, the installation of the boiler drum is challenging and requires extensive preliminary preparations. The general contractor and the project owner organized everything carefully, made sound arrangements, and planned actively, completing all preparatory work in accordance with the established plan to enable smooth lifting. It is reported that Inner Mongolia Jutai New Materials Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Jutai Group, established in March 2017. The company’s project for producing 1 million tons of ethylene glycol per year is a **key initiative aimed at promoting innovation in new coal-based chemical technologies; it is also a coal-to-ethylene glycol project that receives strong support from Hohhot. The total area covered by this project is 2,565 mu, with a total investment of 13.3 billion yuan. Among them, Air Products Inc. of the United States invested 4.8 billion yuan to construct the air separation and gasification areas. The first-phase construction of Inner Mongolia Joutai New Materials Company involves an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of ethylene glycol. The project utilizes aerospace-based powder gasification and Shell’s gasification technologies, low-temperature methanol washing technology, as well as the world-leading formaldehyde hydroxycarboxylation technology developed by Davy Company to produce ethylene glycol. This process represents the world’s first large-scale industrial installation, offering advantages such as advanced technology, energy efficiency, environmental protection, and high conversion rates. The construction period for this project is 3 years, with trial operations planned for 2020 and full production starting in 2021. Once in operation, it is expected to generate annual sales of 10.6 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 3.66 billion yuan, playing a vital role in addressing the shortcomings in Hohhot’s industrial sector. Founded in 2002, Jutai Group is a private enterprise focused on coal chemical products, as well as a **high-tech enterprise with independent intellectual property rights. Branches have been established in Linyi, Shandong; Ordos, Inner Mongolia; Guangzhou, Guangdong; Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu; and Beijing, among other locations, where research and development as well as production of new material products such as methanol, olefins, ethylene glycol, and aromatics take place.
