The 3.2 million tons per year delayed coking unit of the first phase of Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 40 million tons per year integrated refining and chemical processing project was successfully put into operation. After nearly two years of construction, at 11:30 a.m. on November 25, the 3.2 million tons per year delayed coking unit, part of the first phase of this project carried out by Sinochem Sixth Construction Company, was successfully commissioned. The product quality met all requirements on that day, and desulfurization of Tower T0101C was completed successfully, setting a record for the fastest commissioning time for such units in China； On November 26, the coal and coke gas production unit successfully produced qualified hydrogen for external supply, pushing the first phase of Zhejiang Petrochemical’s integrated refining and chemical processing project onto a fast track toward full operation. It is reported that the two sets of facilities are located within the Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base in Zhejiang Province, and they serve as supporting facilities for the first phase of the Zhejiang Petrochemical Integration Project, which is a major project under the construction of the China (Zhejiang) Free Trade Pilot Zone. The function of a delayed coking unit is to fractionate the feedstock to produce products such as rich gas, gasoline, diesel, and light and heavy wax oils. The coke generated is cut into petroleum tar using a hydraulic coking removal system, and then transported to downstream units for use as fuel. The coal coke gas generation unit supplies 200,000 cubic meters per hour of industrial hydrogen to the hydrocracking unit and the residue hydroprocessing unit, and provides 480,000 cubic meters per hour of fuel gas for the entire plant. During the project construction this year, all the participating units of LiuHuaJian overcame various challenges such as the harsh working conditions in an isolated site, delayed delivery of drawings, and slow arrival of materials. They gave up their opportunities to take vacations and be with their families, and implemented refined management practices for the delayed coking unit, optimizing the installation and commissioning processes ； During the construction of the coal coke gas production facility, 800,000 inches of pipeline welding was completed, 24,000 tons of steel structures were installed, 755 sets of equipment were installed, and 1.45 million meters of cables were laid. In addition, a pressure testing team was established to carry out pressure tests on the process pipelines, thereby facilitating the final stages of the project and helping to overcome the last challenges in its construction. Currently, both sets of equipment are operating smoothly and have received positive feedback from the owner.
