On November 22, Sinochem Sixth Construction Company received a letter of thanks from Shenhua Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. The letter praised Sinochem Sixth Construction and its Inner Mongolia branch for overcoming various challenges such as the impact of the pandemic, rising prices of raw materials, and difficult working conditions during the construction of the Shenhua Yulin 400,000 tons per year syngas-to-ethylene glycol plant. They maintained a strong focus on project progress, ensured strict adherence to safety and quality standards, and actively implemented all the requirements set by the client and the general contractor, thereby ensuring that the ethylene glycol production unit was able to produce qualified products on schedule at the key milestones. The project is located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of Dabaochang Town, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, and uses dimethyl oxalate, an ethylene glycol intermediate, as a raw material to produce the biodegradable plastic polyglycolic acid. Compared with traditional processes, polyglycolic acid can reduce coal consumption by about 50%, carbon dioxide emissions by about 65%, and increase output value by 2 to 3 times. It holds significant illustrative value and a positive impact on promoting the transformation of the coal chemical industry toward a direction characterized by higher sophistication, greater diversity, and lower carbon emissions.
