Puyang Yongjin’s ethylene glycol plant achieves a new low in steam consumption per unit of output. Author/Source: Puyang Yongjin Chemical Co., Ltd. Date: 2022-02-23. Clicks: 23. Since the operation of Puyang Yongjin’s ethylene glycol plant began in 2012, energy conservation and reduction of consumption have always been top priorities for the company. All employees of the company strive to tap into their potential by focusing on energy conservation, cost reduction, and improved efficiency; they carry out continuous technical upgrades aimed at saving energy, optimize production processes, raise the awareness of staff members, conduct thorough inspections, and perform their tasks with care. Following this operation, the steam consumption in various units decreased significantly. As of February 23, 2022, the plant’s operating load was 88%; compared to 2021, the steam usage per ton of ethylene glycol dropped from 6.62 tons of steam per ton to 6.22 tons of steam per ton, reaching a new historical low. Reducing the energy consumption of equipment helps to maximize a company’s profitability, while also contributing to the strategic goals of carbon neutrality and reaching peak carbon emissions. The ethylene glycol production unit of Puyang Yongjin Company continues to undergo optimization and adjustments while ensuring safe, environmentally friendly, and stable operations; it strives to find the optimal energy consumption level for the unit, all while maintaining product quality. First, it is necessary to raise the awareness of all employees, treating energy conservation and consumption reduction as an ongoing part of daily work. Efforts should be made to improve the technical skills of employees at their respective positions, and energy conservation and consumption reduction efforts should be integrated with safe production, environmentally friendly production, and high-quality production. It is important to keep safety, environmental protection, and product quality in mind while working on energy conservation and consumption reduction, so as to gradually develop good working habits and correct approaches to operation. Secondly, it is necessary to tap into potential capabilities by conducting in-depth analysis of the operating conditions of the equipment, making full use of its energy-saving aspects, and employing various energy-saving technical measures to recover waste heat from the equipment. This approach aims to determine the optimal level of energy consumption for the ethylene glycol production facility, thereby achieving energy savings and reduced consumption. The ethylene glycol plant has carried out more than 10 skill and technical upgrades, all of which have achieved significant results. Third, pay attention to the daily identification of potential hazards in the equipment to ensure its safe, stable, and long-term operation. The ability of production units to operate safely, stably, and over long periods is an effective guarantee for energy savings and reduced consumption. The company’s management departments and technical staff in the various factories pay close attention to regular inspections, go to the sites in person, and address any potential hazards that are identified promptly. Issues detected during routine inspections by the team members are also resolved quickly, thereby ensuring the safe, stable, and long-term operation of the units.
