New achievements have been made in the application of technology. The methane cryogenic separation unit renovation project carried out by this company enables free adjustment of the ratio between compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas, allowing compressed natural gas to be fully liquefied. By overcoming the challenges related to storage and transportation, this approach not only solves those issues but also significantly increases the added value of the products, generating annual profits of 140 million yuan. 64 technical achievements, including the completed technical upgrades for condensate recovery in the desalinated water feedwater heat exchangers, efforts to improve the coal gas recovery rate, and improvements to the boiler air distribution plates, along with other \"five-small\" type innovations, generate nearly 300 million yuan in economic benefits for the enterprise each year. “Methanol is our most produced product. In the past, due to technical and process-related issues, some fusel alcohols were generated during production, which had a significant impact on the methanol consumption. After analyzing these fusel alcohol products, we found that the methanol content in the fusel alcohols produced per hour was 32%, indicating high value for recovery and reuse. ”Wang Feng, deputy director of the company’s chief engineer’s office, explained that after two years of technical efforts in the field of fusel oil concentration, the concentration tower is able to extract 3.7 tons of methanol per hour, yielding around 3 tons of 98% pure methanol; the economic benefits resulting from this process amount to 1.7 million yuan per month. Low-carbon development sees further improvement. The BDO waste fluid incineration unit originally used natural gas as a supplementary fuel, with the fuel gas being sent to a flare for combustion, which resulted in losses of natural gas products and waste of fuel gas. A task force conducted hundreds of experiments to replace natural gas with alternative fuels, and as a result, 420 cubic meters of natural gas can be saved per hour, leading to a cumulative reduction of approximately 6,600 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. ”Wang Yanxin, deputy director of the company’s technology center, explained. Previously, the fuel gas generated as a by-product in the company’s methanol production process and BDO synthesis process could not be reused and was instead sent to flares for combustion. The technological upgrade project for compressing and recovering this fuel gas was completed and put into operation in 2021, enabling the reduction of 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. In the effort to carry out the \"Blue Sky Defense Campaign,\" effective measures have been taken to manage waste gases, wastewater, and solid waste. The ultra-low emission standards for boiler exhaust gases have been achieved; as a result, 2,084.7 tons of SO2, 166.03 tons of NOx, and 124.78 tons of dust have been reduced in emissions. All these emission figures are below the designated limits. They also carried out energy-saving upgrades to the circulating water pumps, saving 16 million kWh of electricity per year and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 14,500 tons. Industry, academia, research, and application together create a new landscape; companies lacking core technologies are doomed to fail and remain weak. The company has invested a total of 1.396 billion yuan in technological upgrades and research, establishing a branch laboratory of the Autonomous Region Key Laboratory for Clean Conversion of Coal and Chemical Processes in Xinjiang, as well as an enterprise technology center at the autonomous region level. The company has established mechanisms for collaborative innovation between enterprises and academic institutions, such as Xinjiang University, Southwest Petroleum University, and Dongfang Boiler of Dongfang Electric Group, and set up doctoral workstations. The key technologies for preventing fouling in circulating fluidized bed boilers that burn Zhundong coal exclusively, developed jointly by this company with Xinjiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China University of Mining and Technology, and Dongfang Boiler Factory, as well as the technology for enhancing the alkaline removal through water washing of hot flue gas from high-alkalinity coal in Xinjiang, are all of domestic origin. Nine core technical patents have been obtained; these technologies contribute significantly to the efficient and clean utilization of Zhundong coal and play an important role in promoting the development of the coal chemical industry in the Xinjiang region. They have carried out in-depth integration of industry, academia, and research with Xi’an Jiaotong University and Xinjiang University, conducting research on the tube failure issue in medium-temperature separation circulating fluidized bed boilers as well as making adjustments to the combustion process; the results of this research have been rated as being at the leading level in China.
