Signing of the Yubei Chemical Gasification Island Project by Jinmei Group / Author/Source: Refining and Chemical Industry Updates Date: 2020-06-15 Clicks: 9 On June 11, Jinmei Group held a cooperation meeting with Weihui City** and conducted a signing ceremony for the Yubei Chemical Gasification Island Project, during which a framework agreement was signed to strengthen cooperation on this project. Yubei Chemical is the first company outside the group’s core business areas that Jinmei Group has successfully partnered with, marking a significant breakthrough in the group’s efforts to expand into the market for anthracite coal. It holds milestone significance for realizing the strategic goal of \"selling coal and gas while carrying the necessary equipment with us.\" Li Hongshuang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Jinmei Group, provided a detailed overview of the company’s production and operational activities. He noted that faced with unprecedented challenges related to transformation and survival crises, Jinmei Group has proactively adapted to the trends of the energy revolution. Following the principles of high-end development, differentiation, market orientation, and environmental friendliness, and by leveraging cooperation between industry, academia, and research institutions as well as integration between military and civilian sectors, the group has developed and implemented the \"three-furnace strategy\" of selling coal and gas while also utilizing specialized furnaces. As a result, three advanced gasification processes suitable for use with anthracite coal have been successfully developed: the Jinmei H Furnace, the Jinmei S Furnace, and the Jinmei L Furnace. The joint effort to develop the gasification island project with Yubei Chemical Co., Ltd. is a win-win situation: it allows Jinmei Group to expand its market for anthracite coal, while Yubei Chemical Co., Ltd. can upgrade its traditional gas production facilities. It also represents an implementation of the important guidance given by **** during his visit to Shanxi, which called for pioneering new paths in transformation and development. This initiative will provide valuable experience and a model for promoting the clean and efficient utilization of coal, as well as for the transformation and upgrading of traditional coal chemical enterprises across the country. It is hoped that, with the strong support of Weihei City ** and the Henan Petrochemical Association, the enterprises on both sides will take this cooperation as an opportunity to further strengthen communication and collaboration. Together, they will explore a new path that is green, low-carbon, and efficient for the development of the coal chemical industry, share the new opportunities arising from transformation and development, and create a brighter future through open cooperation. Fan Shifu, the mayor of Weihui City, described the city’s economic and social development, stating that the project to build a gasification island carried out in cooperation between Yubei Chemical Co., Ltd. and Jinmei Group represents not only a win-win situation resulting from the partnership between these two enterprises, allowing them to combine their strengths, but it is also a significant step toward promoting high-quality industrial development in Weihui City. The Weihui City Party Committee and government will provide full support for the construction of this gasification island project, offering high-quality services and ensuring all necessary resources are available to facilitate its successful implementation. It is hoped that both sides will further strengthen communication and work together in good faith to ensure the project is implemented and yields results at an early date. Su Dong, executive vice president of the Henan Petrochemical Association, said that Jinmei Group, as the largest coal chemical enterprise group in the country, has made significant contributions to the development of the chemical industry in Henan Province. It is hoped that the two parties involved in this cooperation will maintain close communication and work together to promote the development of the chemical industry in Henan Province, ensuring that the chemical gasification project in northern Henan yields results as soon as possible. Sun Zhengzhong, chairman of Yubei Chemical Co., Ltd., gave a brief overview of the company’s development and said that Yubei Chemical Co., Ltd. is confident in the Gasification Island project; it will fulfill its contractual obligations diligently, accelerate the construction of the project, and make every effort to ensure its early completion and operation. Zhao Xuebin, deputy general manager of Jinmei Group, presided over the meeting. At the meeting, representatives from the Coal Chemicals Division of Jinmei Group and Yubei Chemical Co., Ltd. signed a framework cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective companies. It is understood that the Yubei Chemical Gasification Island project will involve the construction of 2 JM-L large-scale pressurized gasification units, along with accompanying air separation and purification systems. These systems will be used to upgrade and replace the existing gasification and purification facilities at Yubei Chemical, with an estimated annual consumption of over 900,000 tons of anthracite. Successful cooperation on this project will enable the upgrading of chemical processing facilities in northern Henan, thereby enhancing their core competitiveness. At the same time, it serves as an important model for Jinneng Coal Group in identifying new target customers, and helps the group make greater contributions to expanding its market in anthracite.
