Recently, piping pressure testing was commenced on the plant’s process systems and thermal piping network for the Yushen Energy Chemicals 500,000 tons/year coal-based ethanol project, which is under the general contracting of Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. It is reported that the total amount of welding work for the plant’s processes and thermal piping systems in this project amounts to 193,563 inches. The installation work has been largely completed; the external pipe galleries are divided into 7 sections, and there are a total of 75 pressure testing units. Currently, the pipelines related to boiler ignition are being pressure-tested on a priority basis; the pressure testing of the natural gas pipelines has been completed. To ensure the smooth progress of the pressure testing, the project team actively organized on-site design representatives to provide detailed instructions for each area, optimized the pipeline layout, and developed specific pressure testing plans. By taking a comprehensive approach and assigning responsibilities to specific individuals, focused guidance is provided to the key stages to ensure that the pressure testing is completed on time, with both quality and quantity meeting the required standards. The successful commencement of the pressure testing work has created favorable conditions for subsequent tasks such as purging for airtightness, the establishment of the plant’s heat network, and the commissioning of various units. The Yushen 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project is currently the largest project in the industrialization of coal-based ethanol technology. With a total investment of 6.98 billion yuan, it is located in the South Area of Qingshui Industrial Park within the Yushen Industrial Park in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. The project covers an area of 1,365 mu, and it utilizes the coal-to-ethanol technology developed jointly by Yanchang Petroleum and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, which holds independent intellectual property rights. The project is scheduled to be fully handed over on May 30, 2022. The construction scope includes a methanol complex (devices such as coal unloading and storage facilities, gasification units, shift conversion units, purification units, gas separation units, methanol production units, and sulfur treatment units), an ethanol plant (units including dimethyl ether production, carbonylation processes, hydrogenation processes, separation units, compression systems, heating furnaces, and refrigeration stations), as well as new construction for utility systems and auxiliary facilities; the design capacity is 1.22 million tons of coal to be converted per year. Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. (Beiyou Engineering) has been awarded a total EPc contract value of 3.78 billion yuan, covering auxiliary facilities and plant-wide system projects, as well as process units and water treatment systems; it is also responsible for providing overall project management services for this initiative. As the EPC general contractor for the gasification unit of this project, Aerospace Engineering Company signed a general contract with Yushen Energy Chemical Company worth 590 million yuan; the project utilizes two 2,000-ton capacity aerospace furnaces.
