Something everyone who wants to become a licensed electrical engineer must know!
Thread Content
The Registered Electrical Engineer exam is a very challenging test that all designers must pass. Its main characteristics are as follows: 1. It covers a wide range of topics spanning multiple professional fields; even for technicians with the most extensive work experience, about one-third of the content is unrelated to their actual work, and in some cases, half to two-thirds of it is not relevant to their daily tasks. Therefore, passing this exam is relatively very difficult. 2. There is an enormous amount of content; just the reference books and guidelines recommended for the exam, along with all other books related to the exam, add up to a height of several feet, making it difficult to identify the key points and know where to start. The number of questions in the exam is also very large, and most people are unable to complete all of them properly. 3. The duration of the exams is relatively long, with three hours each in the morning and afternoon. Taking exams with full concentration requires a great deal of physical effort; only those with good physical condition can cope with such intense testing. It has been observed that many candidates feel dizzy towards the end of the exam – they perform well at the beginning but perform worse later on. One reason is that the case studies become more difficult as the exam progresses, and another is that their physical strength is depleted after the efforts of the previous day, leaving them in worse physical condition on the second day, which is why dizziness during exams is common. In light of the above points. I have summarized the following experiences based on my own exam experience. I. How to review: 1. Take the exam syllabus as the core, the guidance documents and standards as key references, and the manuals as supplementary materials. 2. One must be very familiar with the contents of the manuals and specifications; it is not necessary to be an expert on them (there is too much content, and it’s difficult to achieve that), but it is essential to know the key points and understand the important knowledge that needs to be mastered and familiarized with as outlined in the guidelines. 3. It’s not necessary to read books every day; one can read for a period of time and then take a break (this applies to those who are preparing for exams over an extended period). This allows for better reflection, as reading every day makes it difficult to maintain clarity of thought, which can instead lead to confusion and hinder effective performance in exams. 4. Since it is an open-book exam, one can spend less time on the chapters and areas that are familiar to them (often some people prefer to delve deeply into what they know well, thus wasting too much time), and focus instead on those chapters and regulations that they have not encountered before or in their regular studies. This way, it won’t lead to being weak in certain subjects. During the exam, you won’t encounter questions that leave you stunned. II. How to save time in order to complete all the questions thoroughly. 1. There are many repetitions across different codes (with some overlap also in the guidelines); for example, fire protection is covered in the high-rise building codes, in fire alarm regulations, and in civil building codes as well... Another example is that load classification is discussed in all of these codes. To save time, you should mark the repeated sections in the specifications on a separate page; for example, in the sections related to fire protection as specified in the detailed regulations, indicate the page numbers where other specifications also describe fire protection measures. If such information is not found there, go straight to those other sections to look it up, thereby saving a lot of time during the exam (the same applies to the guidelines). 2. While familiarizing yourself with the content of the book, try to get to know its table of contents as well. Make sure you know what the main topics are for each chapter, each section, and each standard, as well as which knowledge points they cover. Once you’re familiar with this, you’ll know exactly where to turn in the book and where to look up the standards when taking the exam. III. How to Maintain Sufficient Physical Strength 1. The exam process is also a challenging one; it is difficult to perform at one’s best without good physical condition. Therefore, it is essential to maintain sufficient physical strength during the exam. 2. It is important not to give up your regular fitness routine just because you need to read books during the exam period. 3. During the exam period, be sure to eat well and enough, and ensure you get sufficient sleep. 4. During the exam period, bring two bottles of Red Bull per day; drink one bottle before each exam (there is a possibility of this being advertising for Red Bull). Also bring some high-energy foods, such as beef products, to consume when needed – since most exams require one to settle for fast food at lunch, which often doesn’t provide enough nourishment, these foods help maintain energy levels and allow one to stay focused during the exams. The above are my humble opinions, a summary by the editor regarding the power injection exam. I hope they can be useful to my colleagues. If there are any mistakes in what I’ve said, just treat it as if I never said anything and as if you never read it! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! QQ: 1240289920I.
