For some large-scale equipment, the start switch must be set to automatic mode in order to start them; they won’t start if set to manual mode. As for the manual, automatic, and zero positions on-site, generally speaking, manual mode refers to manual verification of whether the relevant conditions are met, while automatic mode involves the use of relevant sensors on the unit to determine whether it is ready to start; the zero position corresponds to the stopped state.
