1. Explosion-proof cameras belong to the category of explosion-proof monitoring devices; they are a product of the intersection between the explosion-proof industry and the monitoring industry. Since conventional cameras cannot be used in environments with high levels of flammability and explosivity, only products that possess explosion-proof features and come equipped with relevant certificates issued by authoritative agencies can be considered explosion-proof cameras. 2. In many enterprises and research institutions in industries such as petroleum, chemicals, coal, as well as in scientific research, various flammable and explosive gases, liquids, dusts, and fibers may leak or spill out during processes such as experimentation, production, processing, transportation, and storage. When these substances mix with air, they form mixtures that are prone to explosion. The areas surrounding such mixtures also become sites with varying degrees of explosion risk, and the concentration of these explosive mixtures may continue to increase. When the concentration of explosive substances reaches the critical level for explosion, the presence of an electric spark, arc, or high temperature can trigger serious accidents such as explosions and fires, resulting in casualties and property damage. To enable monitoring in flammable and explosive industrial environments, explosion-proof cameras were developed. III. The current international standard approach for explosion-proof cameras is the flameproof type. It is characterized by placing a conventional camera inside a special enclosure, which serves to isolate the sparks and arcs generated by the electrical components within the enclosure from any explosive mixtures outside it. This enclosure is also capable of withstanding the explosive pressures resulting from the ignition of those explosive mixtures by the sparks and arcs from the electrical equipment inside, without being damaged and without causing the explosive mixtures outside to catch fire or explode. A camera equipped with such an explosion-proof enclosure is known as an \"explosion-proof camera with flameproof enclosure,\" and this special type of enclosure is called a \"flameproof enclosure,\" which we usually refer to as a \"flameproof protection cover.\" In other words, an explosion-proof camera with flameproof protection is simply a regular camera lens equipped with a flameproof cover. IV. For explosion-proof cameras, it is the explosion-proof housing that plays a key role in preventing explosions; as long as the dimensions are appropriate, contractors can freely choose the internal camera and lens, which also reduces costs. It also greatly facilitates future maintenance; simply turn off the power to open the cover and remove the camera and lens. An explosion-proof enclosure isolates the sparks and arcs generated by the electrical components inside the unit from any explosive mixtures outside the enclosure. It is capable of withstanding the explosive pressures resulting from the ignition of those explosive mixtures by the sparks and arcs from the internal electrical components, while also preventing explosions inside the enclosure from spreading to the outside. When selecting explosion-proof cameras, it is necessary to choose the appropriate ones; in other words, different types of explosion protection, different levels of protection as well as temperature categories, along with cameras featuring different casing materials, should be selected based on the specific environment and conditions at the site. In simple terms, explosion-proof products can be basically divided into the following three categories based on their explosion-proof design: First, Category I – for use in coal mines (mine-specific explosion-proof devices): intrinsically safe types, marked with the symbol E*bⅠ; flame-retardant types, marked with the symbol ExdⅠ. Second, Category II – for use in environments with explosive gas mixtures, such as in chemical plants, oil fields, oil tanks, petrochemical facilities, refineries, military industries, and aerospace industries (gas-related explosion prevention): flame-retardant types are commonly used, marked with the symbols ExdⅡA, II B, and II C. Note: The product technical standard is GB 3836.2—2000, Electrical equipment for use in explosive gas atmospheres – Part 2: Flameproof types “d”. This is the most common scenario; unless otherwise specified, the devices in question are of the flameproof type designed for use in gas-filled environments. For explosive dusts and fibers – used in environments such as grain processing plants and grain warehouses – dust-proof electrical equipment is generally employed, with the explosion protection marking Ex DIP.DT.T13.
