After the medium-temperature shift reactor, the fluid enters a water separation tank system. The process fluids include hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and water vapor, with a pressure of 2.1 Mpa. To recover heat, the pipelines are divided into two branches: one branch passes through a heat exchanger to heat the deionized water, and after the temperature drops to around 50 degrees, this stream merges with another stream at around 200 degrees. However, leaks often occur at this junction point; defects such as sand holes can appear not only in the welds but also in the connections. The pipes are made of 316 stainless steel with a thickness of 10 mm. Could anyone help identify where the problem lies and suggest possible solutions?
It’s probably caused by the large temperature difference between hot and cold at the junction.
May I ask if you have encountered this problem in production? What resources can be used to solve this problem?

The other approach is to exchange heat with something in order to lower its temperature, so that the temperature difference after mixing isn’t too large.
