Dear experts, may I ask if there is any positive-pressure design for the furnaces of conversion furnaces and pyrolysis furnaces that operate under negative pressure? I know there is a positive pressure interlock, but during design, shouldn’t the possibility of positive pressure be taken into consideration?
Our conversion furnaces here do not have a positive pressure design, nor have we heard of any positive pressure interlock. The furnace pressure interlock is designed to shut off the fuel supply and stop the furnace operation when the furnace is under negative pressure and that pressure falls below a certain level; it does not trigger an interlock when the furnace pressure becomes positive. I’m not sure about the pyrolysis furnace, but in my opinion, as long as it is a heating furnace that burns fuel, the furnace chamber should be kept under negative pressure!

There are three gauges for furnace pressure; if the pressure, taken as 2 out of 3 readings, exceeds 0 kPa, an interlock is activated after a 15-second delay.
