Why has there been no news of new energy companies such as those in the photovoltaic and wind power sectors launching hydrogen production projects? Theoretically, using electricity from these renewable energy sources to produce hydrogen would enable a better achievement of the goal of zero CO2 emissions.
Both wind power and photovoltaic power generation are subject to instability and intermittency. Traditional alkaline water electrolysis cannot handle large fluctuations in the input power effectively; it is said that PEM technology has a greater degree of adaptability, but there are no major projects in China to verify this at present
