The catalyst in our hydrogenation unit is at the end of its second cycle, and the maximum temperature in the catalyst bed is continuously decreasing from 395°C. The heat exchange efficiency of the heat exchanger is also much lower than before. The temperature coming out of the first heat exchanger is 30°C higher than it was at the start of operation; the subsequent heat exchangers are unable to absorb this heat, so it can only be utilized by the air cooling and water cooling systems that follow. The heating furnace is also on the verge of overloading. I’m just waiting for the diesel rating to drop. I’ll wait until next year for the maintenance.
At the end of its life, the catalyst shows a decline in efficiency; a decrease in temperature and reduced heat exchange performance are all normal signs of aging. These problems lead to a reduced operating efficiency of the entire hydrogenation unit and increased energy consumption. During the maintenance next year, it should be considered to replace the catalyst, as well as to inspect and repair the heat exchangers and other critical equipment in order to restore the normal operation of the plant. During this period, monitoring the operation of the equipment and adjusting the operating parameters appropriately may help alleviate the problem. .
